Enhancing the quality of living for Acadia First Nation members and their families through community and social development.

Acadia First Nation was first developed officially under the Indian Act in 1967. Prior to this official formation the aboriginal members were generalized with the rest of Nova Scotia natives on a general listing for aboriginal people. Acadia First Nation is a non-profit organization that strives for self-sufficiency, community and social development. Acadia First Nation is all inclusive of five communities sparring across a vast area from Yarmouth to Halifax.

In June of 1988 Deborah Robinson was elected as Chief for Acadia First Nation. Through the past seventeen years as chief community and social development have increased dramatically. Through various developments over the past seventeen years, including new administrative building, development of Kespuwick Fisheries, two wellness centers, offices in Halifax and Milton to serve the off reserve population, and five gaming facilities Acadia First Nation has grown and prospered for the benefit of all members. These developments have enhanced the well being of the people through job creation and enhancement of services for social well being. Currently there are one and forty (140) staff that operate the various aspects and departments of Acadia First Nation successfully.
